Cote d’Ivoire appoint Lamouchi as new head coach

The Ivorian Football Federation has announced that former French international of Tunisian descent Sabri Lamouchi has been appointed as the new coach of the Elephants.

The 40-year old former French international replaces Francois Zahoui who just guided the Elephants to a 2-1 win friendly win over Guinea.

He was surprisingly picked from a list of high profile names including former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson, ex-Senegal coach Bruno Metsu and former PSG coach Antoine Kombouare.

This is the first coaching job the French man is picking up since retiring in 2001.
